Recognize Unstated Assumptions
Worshipers sometimes hold unstated preferences about the pastor’s profile such as gender, age, marital status, education and years in ministry. If there are some profiles that members would prefer not to consider, sort out why such characteristics detract from the potential of these pastors.
Pastors can have unstated assumptions too! The best candidate will ask a lot of questions about your congregation and will listen carefully to your responses. Beware of pastors who already know their exact agenda before they’ve had time to get to know the congregation.
