Sometimes answers are never simple.
As a believer, you come across people who do ask you "Do you believe in God and why?" However, this can't be answered in an article or in a simplistic sentence. When the Rev. Billy Graham was asked, he quoted Romans 11:33-34: “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable His judgments, and His paths beyond tracing out! Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been His counselor?” He explained that God is absolute. He loves us "in spite of the way we’ve neglected Him and rebelled against Him. He loves us so much that He came down from Heaven in the person of His Son, Jesus, who gave His life for us," Graham said. We can assume that God's love for us is a deciding factor for people to believe in Him.For others, it is personal. Having a personal relationship with the Lord is what it boils down to in additional to having a divine revelation. Having science to also back you up doesn't hurt, either. No matter what path you may be on, here is why I believe in God.
Quantum physics proves God's existence.
Quantum physics is the study of matter and energy at nanoscopic levels. Basically, everything that we see is made up of unseen particles and this correlates to the Scripture in Hebrews 11:3. "By faith, we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen." Another thing to consider is what is holding all these bits together? It is light! Light keeps electrons tied to the nuclei of atoms and atoms tied together to objects. What did God say in Genesis? "Let there be light." Light is fundamental to create the world around us. Having evidence of this or thinking in terms of quantum physics helps encourage you that there is tangible proof of God.Science continues to reveal God.
Dr. Leslie Wickman is a scientist and an astronaut. She said that faith and science can coexist as it reveals that there is something far greater than ourselves. “When I look at what science tells us about the existence of God, what I’m looking for is what evidence we have that suggests that God is the best explanation,” Wickman explained. God created the earth and the Big Bang model tells us that there was a beginning. Astronomical discoveries show a vast universe that is beautifully woven and consistently points us to an orderly and consistent Creator. "People of faith might cringe because it sounds naturalistic, but the reality is that the Big Bang model is God friendly.”Some witnessed Heaven.
Scientists are becoming more interested regarding Near Death Experiences and so are Christians. Some people experienced seeing Heaven, angels and other elements to conclude that there is an afterlife. Over the years, there have been many accounts of people seeing tunnels of light and meeting Christ. Pastor Don Piper was dead for 90 minutes after a car accident in 1989. He explained that he went to Heaven and saw his grandfather and other loved ones. He also witnessed a bright light and experienced an amazing peace. Colton Burpo was 4-years-old when he encountered Jesus, an unborn sister and other loved ones after an emergency appendectomy. He was able to share the love of Christ after the experience. Jennifer Perez was a teen when she went to Heaven after an overdose. “God showed me the Earth and how things were going to happen, events that were going to happen. The vision I was given was from now until the rapture. He didn't show me the rapture, but He showed me the things that were going to happen before that." Some things can't be explained and what we do know through accounts is that there is life after death. If your faith is waning, review and read similar stories of encounters people experienced."When we know God and His character, it helps us grow in Him and grow in wisdom."
Personal experiences bring us knowledge of God.
Christians can get into bad habits that may silence God in their lives. This can be being too busy to pray, worship or read the Word. Without using these tools, it makes it harder to hear from God. When we tune more into the Creator, we learn who He is. Sometimes God speaks through the Word, people and speaks to our souls directly. When we know God and His character, it helps us grow in Him and grow in wisdom. Our walk really impacts how we feel about God and His presence in our lives. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you," Jesus said in Mathew 6:33. Personal experience makes it more easy for you to say "I believe in God." Making it a point to grow in the Lord helps your belief and faith life as well.Nature points to a Creator.
Just as the human body is complex, nature is just as profound. The trees, the skies and the vast oceans encourage us that there is something bigger than ourselves. Not only this, but John the Baptist and Jesus connected with nature and found God when their lives became overly vociferous. Nature is just another indicator of God's craftsmanship and a signal of His love of mankind.Everyone has their own experiences with God. Some of us take a longer route to get to Him and nobody's path is similar. Like the Rev. Graham explained, it is arduous to put God in a box and verbalize His power in a sentence. As we move forward with science and other encounters that we have with God, there are a plethora of reasons why I believe in God and why you should as well.
