8 Reasons People Leave the Church When the Church Isn’t to Blame
There are many reasons people leave the church, some feel isolated, used, or feel that the doctrine doesn’t fit into their beliefs. Other reasons are poor leadership in the church, or when a pastor leaves the congregation. Church attendance has been on a decline for decades, and is not new. A study by Heritage found that since the 1970s, attendance has been on the decline. The Christian Post found that in a 2014 report that over one million people will leave the church. About 3500 believers exit every day.
The Huffington Post reported that “Between the years 2010 and 2012, more than half of all churches in America added not one new member. Each year, nearly three million more previous churchgoers enter the ranks of the "religiously unaffiliated." The church is not to blame entirely for decline, people have more choices, are busy, and leave if someone upsets them within social circles.
