Would you have the nerve to give up everything for a month and live as a homeless person?

That's just what 20-year-old Mike Yankoski and his friend Sam Purvis did. They slept under bridges, ate from trash cans, played guitar for spare change, and experienced both kindness and indifference from those passing by. One of the primary motivations for this journey was to observe how Christians responded to "the least of these" in today's society.

Yankoski wrote the book "Under the Overpass" to describe those life-changing months. In April 2006, Beliefnet members joined him in discussing his experience of homelessness--and their own. Read what they had to say.
