How Does the World Celebrate Vesak
No one really knows the real birthday of Buddha. The Asian lunisolar calendars and the Buddhist and Jindu calendars celebrate Buddha in the Vaisakha month - also known as Vesak. Each country celebrates the birth of Buddha on a different date and way. The date varies from year to year in the Western Gregorian calendar, but usually falls in April or May. In leap years it may be celebrated in June. Here are the major celebrations that occur around the world in honor of Vesak.
