Rock, Uluru is not only the most spiritual place in Australia, it is also probably the most recognized landmark on the continent. Located in the very center of Australia, in the midst of the unforgiving Outback, Uluru is a giant, flat-topped rock, rising 1,100 feet high off the bottom of the desert floor. Uluru was and still is a sacred place to aboriginals of the Pitjantjatjara tribe, and it’s still used for ceremonies and rituals. Paintings on the rock left by the tribe are also religious in nature. One can feel the very spirit of Australia flowing through them when standing in front of this majestic and unusual example of nature at its most creative.
