Freedom
Miriam is about freedom.
We all seek it. We all desire it. The entire idea of freedom separates us from the animals, the uncivilized. Right? Yet how do we define freedom? Do we believe, as our culture teaches, that it is doing what we want when we want? Is freedom escaping confines and norms and indulging self—crossing the line, pushing the envelope? Or does that make us more like the animals and the uncivilized than we are willing to admit?
Miriam’s story cuts right to the heart of what real freedom can offer a person. We see in her own life how freedom is in choosing to follow God—completely and without reserve—and then we find that we desire that freedom for ourselves. That, we see, is the freedom that finally satisfies and fulfills.
