Where is God in the middle of this financial crisis? Is this recession
happening because we being called to learn and to live our lives
differently?

These are questions I ask myself. Of course, I don’t know the answer to
these questions in any definite way, but I do have my hunches. Since
whatever is happening is God’s will, perhaps we should consider that
there is some greater purpose and lesson for all us, individually and
collectively, to reflect on?

For myself, I know that whenever things get challenging in my life
externally, it’s usually due to something going on with me internally.
I’ve come to know that it’s always about being in right relationship
with God and allowing Him to work through me and around me. The more I
trust and allow, the more my life expands. But this has not always been
so. Like everyone, I have also experienced times of negativity and
doubt in which there was little room for receiving God’s grace. So now, I
try to be vigilant in finding and releasing any negativity or resistance so that I am open and receptive to receiving God’s
offerings. I’m a bit like a Bounty Hunter, tracking down my own opposing forces to grace in exchange for God’s bounty of inner peace and
abundance.

There truly is more money, more of everything…but sometimes we’re
looking for it in the wrong places. Money and security is not some
distant place outside of you. It is a place that you create on the inside through cultivating your relationship with
God. In order to have, you must be fully available to receive.

The questions I ask you to reflect on today are:
What might be blocking you from fully receiving God’s grace?
Is there something you need to let go of so that both arms are free to receive his Embrace?

Everything comes from and ultimately belongs to God and there is, I
believe, an infinite supply that is available to each of us. This
supply ebbs and flows in direct relationship to our consciousness and
willingness to let go and let God.

Today might be a good day to get some encouragement from Beliefnet’s, Martha Williamson. Watch this great video called “Where’s There’s Life.”

Here’s a Prayer for Receiving:

Dear God, please ease our hearts in this world of uncertainty,
As we balance that which we desire with our true need,
As we look for higher values in the midst of material loss,
As we remember the wealth and abundance born of your creation,
And know that as you move us from fear to love,
We will be enriched with the treasures of spirit and peace.
Amen.
