Hello, brave explorers who’ve discovered a brand new blog —

Thanks for joining me here at the outset for “Your Charmed Life.” This blog has been a long time coming and the timing is so perfect: Inauguration Day! I watched the ceremony on a big, outdoor screen in an enthusiastic crowd on 125th Street, Harlem, New York City. This is definitely a day of new beginnings, and I couldn’t be launching this blog at a better time. I so believe that BeliefNet.com is my home on the web because nothing is as fascinating, enticing, fulfilling, and thrilling to me as the quest for meaning, the search for God.

To introduce myself, I’m a writer and speaker and spiritual-life coach. My books include Creating a Charmed Life: Sensible, Spiritual Secrets Every Busy Woman Should Know, and Fit from Within: 101 Simple Secrets to Change Your Body & Your Life. I believe that life is supposed to be magical and meaningful and amazing — tough sometimes, but magical and meaningful and amazing just the same.

My academic background is in comparative religions because I love all the ways the Great Mystery finds to reach us. I love the phrase that theologian Marcus Bach coined, “vagabond in the wonderful world of spirit.” That’s somewhat how I see myself. My mother was Protestant, my father Catholic, and the woman who lived with us to take care of me — my first spiritual teacher, I now see — was in Unity with a background in Christian Science, Rosicruciansim, and lots of Emerson.

Paths that have enriched my journey include Unity, Religious Science, and New Thought; Quakerism, Catholicism, and mysticism in general; Eastern traditions including yoga, Vedic philosophy, Buddhism, and the exquisite reverence for life of Jainism; theosophy (I worked in the library of Theosophical Society in America in my early twenties and later in their publishing house, Quest Books), Kaballah, and probably most of all the lovely synthesis of practical spirituality of the 12 Step programs. It’s all in me, and it’s all good.

The emphasis of this blog is to model for you and coach you toward creating and living a charmed life of your very own (or a more charmed life if you’re already living one). I define that as a life that sparkles. You know how it is when you’re really little and you’re close to certain that you saw the fairies under the toadstools? In a charmed life, that kind of wonder doesn’t go away, no matter what your age. There’s synchronicity, serendipity, and surging delight, even as you perform the tasks of daily life and deal with roadblocks and detours.

This blog will cover all sort of aspects of charmed living. I have an acronym that helps explain it:

C – compassion
H – health
A – adventure
R – reverence
M – magnanimity
E – equnimity
D – delight

Many blog entries will be simply sharing with you how I live my charmed life and what I learn from that. I do plan to make Tuesdays kind of special and use that day for giving you useful tips for health, happiness, spirituality, efficiency, all sorts of thing. Those will be “Tuesday’s Top 10 Tips.” Since this is a Tuesday, I’ll post those later this evening and invite you to come back to check them out.

If you’d like to know more about my work or about me, please stop in at my site, www.victoriamoran.com, or listen to my radio show “A Charmed Life” on Creative Health and Spirit Radio — past shows are archived so you can pick topics that appeal to you. And of course we can be blog buddies here. I’ll be posting a minimum of five times a week, so please come by regularly and get a daily dose of charmed living. You deserve nothing less.

All good things to you,
— Victor
