This world can be so cold and bitter, feels like were in the dead of winter, waiting on something better. But am I really gonna hide forever? – Start a Fire

I want to begin this piece with the following parable…

An old lady told her granddaughter, “My sweet girl, there is a battle between two lions inside of all of us”…

One is Evil.. It is angry, greedy, prideful, full of gossip, jealousy, ego, lies, resentment, lacks empathy, insecure, and wants its own way. The other is Good…It is joyful, peaceful, hopeful, patient, humble, compassionate, truthful, loving, and wants the best for others.

The little girl seemed puzzled but as she thought about it, she asked.. “Grandmother, which lions wins?”

The grandmother leaned in and quietly, replied,” the one you feed!”

Without God we are all in serious trouble and I am not talking about the occasional prayer or church visit, I am talking about Who are you? What do you want from this life? Who do you want to be? What kind of Love do you desire? The bible is our life line, it is God’s love story about us and for us. Where does love even come from? Love comes from the one who created us!  In 1 John 4:19 it clearly states, We love because he first loved us.

It saddens me so much and also makes me want to shake some girls and women and tell them, Wake up! You’ve got it all wrong like I did! God, your father loves you with an everlasting love. He doesn’t want to kill your vibe with rules and punishment. He wants to do what every good father would do for his precious daughter… He wants to nurture you, protect you, show you your value, your uniqueness, the way you should go and most importantly He wants to love you.

I remember when I “no joke” decided to get into a real relationship with God; I won’t lie it took discipline but He also opened my eyes for the first time to who He really is and how much I am worth. He set a fire in me and it turned my whole world upside down. The word of God is not black and red ink on fragile pages, it is fire and steel for your soul. It will challenge everything you once thought you had figured out but it will never comfort you with a lie. If you are looking for truth and guidance, don’t you think it’s time to go to the one who breathed you in to existence?

I see so many young girls and even grown women just giving themselves away because they don’t know who they are in Christ. I didn’t know my worth until I knew God. You are daughters of the highest King.  “Do not give to dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces”- Matthew 7:6 

I guarantee if you turn to Jesus, he will change your heart, mind, and soul for the better and as you grow in Him. Then He will bring you what your heart longs for but in His time. He is always at work on your behalf. Bring to Him your struggles and allow Him to carry the heaviness while he is preparing you for the many blessings he wants to give you. Remember a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day to the Lord- Be patient and know you are in good hands.
