Referring to “them Jews”, Jeremiah Wright blamed Jewish voters for keeping his former parishioner, President Obama, from giving him a call. And while he was at it, he blamed “them Jews” from keeping the President from speaking out more forcefull against Israel.
Why is this news?

Because any time hate is mobilized to stir the spirits of the hateful, we must all pay atention. Especially today, barely 24 hours after James W. von Brunn murdered a guard at the United States Holocaust Museum in Washington DC, we should all be acutely sensitive to the power of hate speach to inspire hateful acts.
Whether it’s white folks talking about “those people” or Reverand Wright’s continued verbal assaults on “them Jews”, whatever one’s politics, that kind of talk endangers us all.
