Man-Praying

Have you ever been in a time in your life where you weren’t sure where your next meal or job would come from? How about a time when you or a loved one received devastating news at the hospital, or the loss of someone you love? In those times it can be extremely hard to trust that God is there with you. It can be extremely hard to imagine, nonetheless to even believe that God even hears your cries for help and for mercy. When we get hit with those seasons of the unknown in life, we often wonder where God is. We question whether He even loves us. “While I’m Waiting” is a song by the Christian artist,  John Waller. It is probably best known in the movie “Fireproof”, with the actor Kirk Cameron. It is a song that talks about waiting on the Lord and trusting in Him that He will provide for you, even during trials and strife.

The lyrics are as follows:

1st verse: “I’m waiting, I’m waiting on You Lord. And I am hopeful, I’m waiting on You Lord. Though it is painful, but patiently I will wait. And I will move ahead bold and confident. Taking every step in obedience. Chorus: While I’m waiting, I will serve you. While I’m waiting, I will worship. Worship. While I’m waiting I will not faint. I’ll be running the race even while I wait.”

When we are in seasons of waiting it can be very difficult to remain peaceful, optimistic and looking towards a bright future. But, when we wait on the Lord, we will see miracles happen. Things will start to fall into place better than they had in the past. All we have to do is ask Him to take over the things we wanted control over. It can be very painful during any season of waiting, no matter where you are in your life. At times, it may feel as though God has abandoned you. But take heart, that is not true at all. Even when you don’t see Him or feel Him working in your life, He is working out a plan for your life.  That is why we have to wait patiently for His answers and wait patiently with calmness and boldness in our hearts.

We can still worship and serve Him through our trials, grief and especially during our waiting periods. Unfortunately, though, our lives and the circumstances in them often make it hard to find God, nonetheless worship and praise God during waiting periods. With God running the race of your life with you, you can look ahead and even up to the sky and say “Lord, I need your help right now, I know that you are with me, even through this strife I am going through. Help me to trust you, to lean on you and to learn from you on how to wait for your answers in my life, no matter what they may be.” While you run the race with God at your side, He will not let you faint. He will not let you fall under more temptation or burden than you can handle. Running this race, we call life with Him is so much easier than running it without Him.

2nd verse: “I’m waiting, I’m waiting on You Lord. And I am peaceful, I’m waiting on You Lord. Though it’s not easy no, but faithfully I will wait. Yes, I will wait. I will move ahead, bold and confident. Taking every step in obedience. Chorus: While I’m waiting, I will serve you. While I’m waiting, I will worship. While I’m waiting I will not faint. I’ll be running the race even while I wait.”

He allows us to be peaceful during our seasons of waiting when we allow His peace to envelop our hearts, bodies and our minds as well as our souls. We can move ahead with boldness and confidence in our lives, taking every step with Him in pure obedience to His good and glorious, not to mention glorious will. We can continue to live our lives for Him, through Him and with Him even while we are waiting for the answers from Him.

Last chorus: I will move ahead, bold and confident. I’ll be taking every step in obedience, yeah, while I’m waiting, I will serve you. While I’m waiting, I will worship. While I’m waiting, I will not faint, I’ll be running the race, even while I wait.”

Always take the step in obedience for the Lord. While you are waiting, remember that He is always with you.
