jesus in the garden
Prayer is the most powerful weapon. Some people think they can carry their own lives without God and without prayer, or at least without praying regularly. But that’s how Satan gets under our skin and into our heads. He tries to make us believe that we don’t need to pray in order to get through our day.  So many of us often think we can carry our lives on our shoulders and continue to fight off the Devil and fight his schemes. But the truth is that we are often seen as powerless. But that couldn’t be any further from the truth. We are never powerless in any situation. We have the power of God and the power of prayer within our spirits, hearts and our minds. All we have to do is want to use that power. Prayer can change your life as well as the lives of people around us. God wants all of us to come to Him with prayer and in prayer. He gives us the free will to decide when we pray and where we pray. But have you ever had one of those days where you feel as though nothing can go right no matter how hard you try? Then you cry out to God, or anyone who may hear us, and you ask, “what do I do?” then comes the voice from inside you that tells you to pray. That is both God and the Holy Spirit telling you exactly what to do in every situation.
Look at how much prayer was used in the Bible. Moses prayed that Pharaoh would release the Israelites from slavery and to part the Red Sea. Joshua prayed for God to use the shouts of the Israelites to knock down the walls of Jericho. Esther prayed that God would give her the right words to say when she spoke to the king about Hayman’s evil plot against her and her family. Mary prayed “Lord let it be to me according to your word, for I am the Lord’s servant.” She prayed that when the angel of the Lord appeared in front of her, and told her that she would become pregnant with Jesus and He would be the King of Kings.  Even Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, “Father if it is your will, take this cup away from me. But not my will but yours be done.” He was so stressed He was sweating blood.
Another person who prayed that isn’t as well as known is Hezekiah. When his people were faced with the Assyrian army coming to destroy them, he prayed for God’s divine protection and intervention.  His prayer was answered in full. In 2 Kings 19:35 says, “35 That night the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning—there were all the dead bodies!” Although it is a gruesome account of how God delivered the people, it is also a testament to His power and never-ending mercy and grace.
When a situation seems hopeless, pray. When things are going wrong, pray. When life seems hell-bent on destroying you, pray. Before you take a stance and try anything else, reach out to God and pray. God gave us as Christians the power of prayer in order for us to use it for the good of our lives and for prayer to be used as a weapon against Satan and his schemes, as well as for us to use it to proclaim the victory that God has given us through Jesus Christ. God gave us prayer for us to use it, not to waste our life worrying over what will happen every day. Remember, Jesus already defeated Satan in battle when He died on the cross. We just have to be brave enough to keep reminding Satan that he is the defeated one when he is trying to get us to break down and take a step back in our warrior mindset with prayer. We can remind him that he has no power over us and that God has already won the victory for us. There will be days when we lose the battle, but God is always one prayer away. He is always there for us. He will never turn a deaf ear to our prayers.
Psalm 107: 28-30 says, “Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. 29 He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea[a] were hushed. 30 They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven.”
Speak God’s plan over you in prayer. Pray, “Lord, I know I don’t know everything that will happen in every day. Please help me trust in you more and to believe in the good plan for my life. Lord help me to pray with the faith that I will receive what I pray for.”
Always remember that there is power through prayer, no matter how, where, or when you pray. He will always hear your prayers. He loves it when you want to have a conversation with Him. One of the best things you can do in life is pray. It opens up the ultimate connection to God, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.Take the opportunity today.
