appreciating everything
“He Knows My Name” by Francesca Battistelli is one of my favorite songs. It always reminds me that God loves me and already knows my name even if I don’t feel like I’m a good enough person or example of His goodness and His glory. A lot of the time it’s difficult to remember who we are as followers of Christ that our identity is actually in Christ and with Christ. This song helps us remember that we are adored by God and that is all that matters. It doesn’t matter if the world and other people don’t know who you are or what your do. What matters is who you are in Christ and remembering that God always had, has and will remember you as His child.
1st verse: Spend today in the conversation in the mirror face to face with somebody less than perfect. I wouldn’t choose me first if I was looking for a champion in fact I’d understand if you picked everyone before me. But that’s just not my story. True to who you are you stole my heart and made something out of nothing. Chorus: I don’t need my name in lights. I’m famous in my father’s eyes. Make no mistake, He knows my name. I’m not living for applause, I’m already so adored. It’s all His stage. He knows my name oh, oh. He knows my name oh, oh. He knows my name.” This verse points out that we are all less than perfect. In reality we all are not champions no matter what we may do or achieve, but the good news is that we are all champions in Gods eyes. God saw all of our hearts and made us into something out of nothing. This can be taken literally as He made Adam from dust and Eve out of Adams ribs. God knows each and every one of us by name and He loves all of us equally.
2nd verse: “I’m not meant to just stay quiet. I’m meant to be a lion. I’ll roar beyond a song. With every moment that I’ve got. True to who You are You saw my heart and made something out of nothing. I don’t need my name in lights. I’m famous in my Father’s eyes. Make no mistake. He knows my name. I’m not living for applause. I’m already so adored. It’s all His stage. He knows my name oh, oh, He knows my name oh, oh.” This verse points out that we aren’t meant to stay quiet as Christians. We are supposed to stand up for our faith and stand up for God and praise Him with everything we are and everything we have within us. This can be very hard to do with the circumstances that are thrown at us in our lives. But God doesn’t give us anything we can’t handle. We don’t have to live for the recognition or applause because we are all already so adored. Everything in the world is all His stage. No matter where we are, we are on God’s stage, because the entire earth is His stage.  It even says in the Bible that if we look for recognition on Earth then our rewards will be literally nothing in Heaven.
Mathew 5: 12 says, “Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
Bridge: He calls me chosen, free forgiven, wanted, child of the King. His forever, held and treasured. I am loved.” This verse describes what Jesus calls us- chosen, free, forgiven. We are all anted children of the King. We are His forever if we just ask for Him to enter our hearts full heartedly. We are always held and treasured, as well as loved by Him no matter what we may have done, or no matter what we may or will do in our future.
Chorus: “I don’t need my name in lights. I’m famous in my Father’s eyes. I don’t need my name in lights. I’m famous in my Father’s eyes. Make no mistake. He knows my name. I’m not living for applause. I’m already so adored. It’s all His stage. He knows my name . He knows my name oh, oh. He knows my name.”
This song gives us the reminder and constant reaffirmation that God has not forgotten us and that He will never forget us. Why look for recognition if we are already loved and adored by the One who created us in His image. He made us with unique and special abilities that he wants us to figure out how to use daily. Whenever you think that lie, that no one cares about you-remember this song. He knows your name.
