The song “Still” by Hilary Scott is another song that has hit home for me. Hilary Scott is the female singer of Lady Antebellum. This song hit me right between the eyes, not to mention the heart not too long ago, I was driving and listening to her solo Christian album. I never expected to be so moved by a song as I was by “Still”. For me, the lyrics hit home on many different levels. It made me realize yet again that He is the one in control of my life. It also made me realize that He does know what He is doing even when I didn’t and don’t always think He does. I know I hardly ever see the clear picture, because so much doubt clouds judgment.  But this song helps restore my faith in God alone and brings me to my knees. I hope it does the same for you as well. This song is a prayer of realization that God already is making ways in everyone’s lives, no matter what is happening.  The lyrics are as follows:
1st verse: “I believe that You were God alone. But sometimes I still try to take control. ‘Cause I get scared when I can’t see the end. And all You want from me is to let go. Chorus: You’re parting waters. Making a way for me. You’re moving mountains that I don’t even see. You’ve answered my prayer before I even speak. All You need for me to be is still.”
We all forget that God is the one in control over every aspect of our lives. We want control. But once we take control, we realize how chaotic our lives have become. Then, once we realize how crazy our lives have become, we say here Lord I give you the controls of my life back. He is parting the waters of your life and making ways for you. He moves mountains away from you that you don’t even see. You only tend to notice when they are completely out of the way that God has moved them to help you drastically. He knows your heart and the desires of your heart before you even speak. All He wants from you is to be still.
Second verse: “I bring my praise before I bring my need. ‘Cause there’s no fear You’ve not already seen. I rest my heart on all Your promises. Cause I have seen and know Your faithfulness. Chorus: You’re parting waters. Making a way for me. You’re moving mountains that I don’t even see. You’ve answered my prayer before I even speak. All You need for me to be is still. “
You can bring Him praise before you bring your needs. Bringing your praise and thanks to Him before you bring your need, is a great way to start off any prayer. Give thanks to God for all He has done in your life and for everything that He will do in your life.  There is nothing He hasn’t already seen in your life. You can find the peace that He provides instantly through prayer and you can, have and will see and know His faithfulness.
No matter what waters He is parting and making ways for you in life, He makes ways when there seems to be no way. Even if you don’t always feel His presence, He is always there. He answers your prayers before you even speak. He knows what you need before you even utter what you need in your life, through out any situation. It is awesome to know that He knows each one of us intimately and loves us so deeply. He wants you to be still and to have His everlasting and eternal peace in your heart, soul and in your life. He wants you to be still and feel His presence throughout any aspect in your life.
Bridge into the chorus: “And know that You are God. Be still. And know that You, trust that You are parting waters. Lord, You whispered my name. Oh, You answered my prayer. You’re moving mountains. You’re parting waters. Making a way for me. You’re moving mountains that I don’t even see. You’ve answered my prayer before I even speak. All You need for me to be is still. Be still. “
God is God, and you are human No matter what you can’t see the full picture of your life, but you can always trust that God does. He knows what He is doing right now in your life and always has. You can work to develop that trust in the Lord as He works His ways in your life. No matter how chaotic things in your life seem, remember that you can always be still with God. He’s making a way for your life that’s better than you can imagine.
