jesus walking on water
Jesus was able to walk on water, literally. He enables us to do the same in our faith walk. He was able to walk on water to teach both Peter and us how to keep our faith in Him. It isn’t always easy to keep the faith constantly. In a world where there is constant strife, grief and stress, faith can be a beautiful thing. It is hard to remember to lean on our faith and trust God when tough times require us to walk on water.  But God helps us remember how to keep the faith. If He can walk on water, imagine what else He can do for us. If He allowed Peter, one of his most beloved disciples to stand and walk on water, He can help us through our hard times too. He wants us to know that everything is okay as long and we allow Him to be in control.
When Peter walked on water, he doubted and his doubt caused him to sink and he got scared or as I say freaked out. Just like we do when things don’t go our way and when things are difficult.  Much like Peter our own doubt causes us to think that God doesn’t know what He is doing. We might think that God has abandoned us or forgotten us. On the contrary, He hasn’t forgotten us. God does know and always had known what He is doing. When we turn away from God that is when things get worse. When we allow God to carry us through the dark water and the dark times in our lives ,we often find that our lives are better in the long run and our faith is often strengthened. When we allow Him to walk with us through the storms of life. He has ways of showing up in ways we can’t get imagine.
When we choose to walk on water with Him, He will guide us to the correct paths to exactly where He wants and needs us to be. Walking on water physically is only something that He can do. But we walk on water in our doubts within our minds, when physical sickness hits us or a family member, we think where is God? How can He allow this to happen to me or my family members? We tend to sink into the depths of despair during those times and we end up sinking in our faith instead of trusting God that He will deliver us even if it is not in the way we expected or the way we wanted. We end up sinking in the water of our doubts just as Peter did on the lake. Sometimes it takes God not answering our prayers for us to truly realize how powerful and great He really is. When we are crying out save me lord just as Peter did, Jesus does reach out his hands and pull us up from the depths before it gets to be more than what we can bear. He then questions us just as He asked Peter “you of little faith, why did you doubt?” Doubt is a powerful thing, especially when things aren’t going our way. We can walk on water with the full confidence that God is always with us in every situation. He gives us the power to face any and every situation head on in faith filled purpose. Take the time today to remember whose you are and that He will lead you through the dark waters even when you lose your faith.
Mathew 14:22-23 says, “Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.
27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
Jesus is the one we can always turn to when we are on a sea of uncertainty in our lives. Remember, all things will work out according to His daily goodness and mercy. God has a plan. Trust Him to lead you to the calmness and the peace that only He can give you. If Jesus can walk on water, He will surely see you through any hard times in your life. Jesus can help you walk through the stormy waters of your life. All you have to do is call on Him, and He will never let you down. He allows us to walk on water through the difficult times in our lives. He will guide us to our destination, no matter how many obstacles are in our way.
