thirdday
Third Day had done a cover of the hit song, “God of Wonders”. I wanted to look deeper into that song for the series I’ve been working on. The song talks about the description of the wonders God has displayed for us in the universe and just how holy He really is.
The first verse goes like this “Lord of all creation. Of the water, earth and sky. The Heavens are Your Tabernacle. Glory to the Lord on high.Chorus: God of wonders, beyond our galaxy. You are holy, holy. The universe declares Your majesty. You are holy, holy. Lord of Heaven and Earth. Lord of Heaven and Earth” This verse displays the beauty of the world and in Heaven and how beautiful we see God really is. It even says the universe declares your majesty. This song may help people understand who God is and why and how He is holy.
This song holds a special place in my heart because we get to sing it at my church. I have the honor of opening the song each time we sing it, with the words “Lord of Heaven and Earth”. It was and is always an honor to sing this song with our praise team and I’ve been singing it with my dad since I was a little girl. I always feel God’s presence when we sing this song, whether it’s in the car, on the radio or at church.
The second verse goes like this “Early in the morning. I will celebrate the light. And when I stumble into darkness. I will call Your name by night. God of wonders, beyond our galaxy. You are holy, holy. The universe declares Your majesty. You are holy, holy. Lord of Heaven and Earth. Lord of Heaven and Earth”. This verse says, that we can celebrate God’s light in our world and in our lives. If we stumble in the darkness we have the honor and privilege to call His name by night and at any time whenever we need Him.
He is never too busy to listen to our cries for help and our prayers. God is a God of wonders beyond our galaxy. This means that His wonders are more numerous and more miraculous than any of us, not even the best lyricist in the world could express just how wonderful God is. He truly is the only Lord of Heaven and Earth.
The bridge goes as follows: “Hallelujah to the Lord of Heaven and earth Hallelujah to the Lord of Heaven and earth. Hallelujah to the Lord of Heaven and earth. Holy, holy. Holy, holy. God of wonders, beyond our galaxy. You are holy, holy. The universe declares Your majesty. You are holy, holy. God of wonders, beyond our galaxy. You are holy, holy. The universe declares Your majesty. You are holy, holy. Lord of Heaven and Earth. Lord of Heaven and Earth.”
Then Third Day even adds another verse to the end of the song with the words- “Precious Lord, reveal your heart to me. Father hold me (Lord God almighty). The universe declares your majesty, you are holy, you are holy. Hallelujah to the Lord of Heaven and Earth.” I think it is so cool to know that they added words to the song and asked God through the song to reveal His heart to all of us and to hold us no matter what may be happening to us in our lives.
The blessing about this song is that this is a song that we can lift up in both prayer and praise at the same time, expressing our awe and wonder at God’s creation, as well as asking Him to guard us in our lives. We are privileged to sing it at worship seminars, in church, in our cars and anywhere we may feel comfortable. It is a true testament to how awesome God is.
It can even make people feel like they are witnessing God’s wonders through the song. Hence the title “God of Wonders.” A lot of times in church or at their concerts, Third Day or anyone running the power points will have the wonders of the galaxy be shown as a backdrop during this song. There may be asteroids, the planets, and any other form of God’s creation.  It is a fun song that anyone can sing along to. Third Day’s version is so well done and catchy that it will probably stick in your heart and in your mind for days on end.
This song really puts in perspective that He is the Lord of all creation. He rules over everything including water earth and sky.   It puts into perspective just how awesome He really is and how much He deserves to be praised.
