I am a Muslim and I say its Ok for Christians and Jews to pray to the God Jesus and Moses prayed to.

Ofcourse we see in bible that Jesus never prayed to himself; rather he prayed to the one he called Alloh-im in aramaic.

The quran says and I put it in my words,

Those who are believers, those that are Jews and Christians. Whoever believes in Allah and the last day (of judgment) and does righteous deeds. Thus for these people their reward is with their Lord. They will neither have anything to fear nor shall they grieve.

On the left you have Muslims who believe they were commanded by God to do what they are doing, on the right you have Tebow doing exactly the opposite of What the God he supposedly believes told him to do (MT6:5-8 ie; praying in public to make it look like he is holier than others).

Truthteller: There’s a difference between preaching in public, mentioning or talking about God and making a big dramatic prayer pose in the end zone. Tebow can reach just as many people without drawing attention to himself with his ridiculous and patently absurd prayer pose.

He’s so much as said he’s praying. My point is that Matthew tells us to pray in silence, to not make a show of our prayer. Tebow is absolutely showing off, I’ve watched this kid show off for the last six years. There’s no one who craves attention more than Tebow in the football world.

My point with the Catholics is that during the middle ages praying loudly for everyone to see how pious you are was a problem. They didn’t follow Matthew and it created problems. Do I think people who pray in front of abortion clinics are wrong? I tend to think that those who are making a big show of praying in front of abortion clinics are. Not because they’re praying but because they’re drawing attention to their prayer.

Steven,
In Mathew we have the Great Commission. Jesus tells us if we are ashamed of Him before men, He will be ashamed of us before the Father. We are also told not to hide our light under a basket.
We are all called to be workers in the Kingdom; however, we all have different talents. Some are preachers, some are writers, some are athletes, etc. Tebow has been given a large stage on which to proclaim and praise Christ. What would you have Tebow do? Not acknowledge Christ? Not give God the honor? Abolish prayer and praise in the public arena? Let me know.

Steven, how do you know why Tim Tebow is bowing? How can you know what is in his mind? So are you including people in your discourse who pray in front of abortion clinics in your comment saying it is against Matthew’s gospel? So does this mean that public prayer at high school games is against Matthew’s gospel? I don’t think that Matthew was addressing Catholics, BTW. There were NO Catholics when he wrote the gospel. It was written about the Jewish hypocrites. Although I do not agree with you, I truly appreciate your viewpoint and welcome you to leave many more comments in the future. Thanks for visiting Watchwoman on the Wall blog. Come back often.

The difference isn’t just Muslim v. Christian. Tim Tebow is reaching a much larger audience than those Muslims. NFL football games regularly draw tens of millions of viewers. The NFL, for example, has 23 of the 25 highest rated programs of the fall. So people find Tebow outrageous because they know about it while they likely don’t know about this Muslim event.

Tebow also has Christians like me against him. His prayer is show offish and meant to draw attention to himself. It’s against Matthew who tells us to pray in silence and without drawing attention to ourselves. One of the problems with the middle ages Catholic church is that people prayed loudly and so as to draw attention to themselves and their piety. Tebow is a modern version of such people. As a believer in the reformation, I find Tebow’s prayer display alarming.

In a pagan society like ours has now become it’s OK to pray to any false god such as allah, in fact it’s even encouraged. However to pray to the one true God, Jesus Christ is discouraged, and is increasingly being outlawed in the public arena. Kids are not allowed to pray in school, however many school districts are teaching and praising Islam.

When I posted this, I promised I’d leave the answer the day after I posted these two pictures. I’ve given all you readers all of today to post an answer and I got one comment. Now for the reason that I know for sure is the answer is the same one that Pastor Ernie Sanders establishes as the reason why Jesus Christ is maligned in the USA like He never was before this evil generation of baby boomers took over. The reason Muslims can pray in public en masse without objection while Tim Tebow is maligned for giving honor and glory to God at a football game is simply because Christians tolerate it. If enough Christians were REAL Christians instead of fake, phony cowards, Tim Tebow would never be made fun of by comedians or scorned anywhere in the media. They would all fear the phone calls and repercussions of speaking out against the God of the Bible by the numerous Christians who would defend their faith and their Almighty God. It is because the vast majority who call themselves Christians don’t take the time to actually do anything to defend Christ, the Bible or righteousness.

Because they are mooning Americans not praying and that is their Constitutional right under freedom of speech. Their speech, however, is coming out of the wrong end of their body so we can’t understand the threat. So what are we Americans going to do about it? Hmmm? Perhaps we can arrest them under one of the pollution acts! any idea?
