The Vatican has put up the text of the Pope’s off-the-cuff remarks at the end of Mass this morning.
It is smoothed out and patched up..and changed:

My response now for all that you have given to me during this visit is my blessing, which I impart to you at the conclusion of this beautiful Celebration.

That’s not what he said.  He said:

…and my answer in this moment to all what you have given to me in this moment and this visit is my blessing at the end of the Holy Mass.”

 

I guess I understand the smoothing out (althought..not really)…but the changing of “Holy Mass” to “beautiful Celebration?”
Wow. We’ve had frequent questions about the Holy See’s translations from one language to another. Now we have to wonder about their translations from English…to English?
