I’ve not read these books, but Michael has, and really been enjoying them. They’re by scholar Michael J. Gorman, who is a Professor of Sacred Scripture and Dean of the Ecumenical Institute of Theology at St. Mary’s Seminary & University in Baltimore.
Apostle of the Crucified Lord: A Theological Introduction to Paul and his Letters

and (I think)
Cruciformity: Paul’s Narrative Theology of the Cross.
I was reminded of this, not just because of today’s feast, but because our friend Irenaeus over at Catholidoxy/Retractiones has been blogging a bit on the early Church and abortion, inspired by Gorman’s early book on the subject, which is invaluable.
