A very nice story from the Enquirer on a seminarians’ basketball team – the Minor Prophets

Of the five Minor Prophets from the local area, three went to public high schools, one was home-schooled and one went to Elder.

Many of the players have dated, owned homes, and worked in other professions.

There’s a former revenue agent with the IRS, restaurant manager for Pizza Hut and Jersey Mike’s, and sales manager with Home City Ice. The average age of the Minor Prophets is 29.

The point guard plays six musical instruments and is in an Irish band.

The power forward is a graduate of Notre Dame Law School and is a licensed attorney.

The sixth man is a 5-foot-4 fireplug who scraps for the ball like the 13th of 14 children trying to get some food at the family dinner table, which he was.

The seventh man was raised on a dairy farm and had completed his first year of medical school at Ohio State University when he decided to enter the seminary.

The Minor Prophets even have a three-point specialist: Meet the future Rev. Tim “I Shoot It When I Get It” Ralston.

“He’s kind of like our Jimmy Chitwood,” says Dan Hess, the Notre Dame law grad, referring to the star player in Hoosiers. “He’s very quiet by nature – and he’s quiet even on the court – but he’s not afraid to shoot it up. He’s got that soft touch, and if he gets in his zone he can take over a game.”

Well-written piece. Hat tip to Rich Leonardi
