If you watched the canonization Mass yesterday, you noted that the Gospel was chanted first in Latin, then in Greek.

This isn’t an innovation – it’s a standard element of the Pontifical High Mass, as offered by the Pope – if Latin is the language of the Mass. (A bishop can offer a Pontifical High Mass, therefore the distinction.)

I’m sure our liturgy experts can clarify and expand on this – particularly who it is who does the chanting of the Gospel in Greek.
