In case you’re wondering, I’m trying to put together a post on last week’s bishops’ meeting. I’m waiting a bit to see if any of the Catholic news services are going to put up any substantive news stories. Joe Feuerherd had a piece up last Friday on NCR(eporter)…but there’s not much more out there yet. And there’s certainly nothing from the USCCB itself. Speaking of transparency, this June meeting of the bishops has been at the way far other end of the spectrum from the Episcopal GenCon…I’ve not seen such a closed-mouthed, walled-in, mystery-laden bishops’ meeting since they got some form of religion in ’02 in Dallas. There’s hardly anything up at the USCCB site, there were only a couple of press conferences, and no summary statements. Yes, there is something to be said for considered and careful presentations of what you’ve done, but brothers, this is the age of Instant Information. You’re just going to have to deal and find a middle way.
