Not until July 31, but the Pittsburgh paper runs with the story early: 12 women who will be ordained by other women to something.

Here’s a point that I wish reporters and particularly (in this case) headline writers would get: truly and honestly, these ordinations have nothing to do with the Catholic Church. They just don’t. The headline for this story: Defying Church, 12 Catholic Women to be Ordained Here.

I’m going to be really particular here and declare that no, they’re not "defying the Church." They’re outside the Church, they’re doing their own thing. They should be challenged by reporters to explain exactly how they can call themselves "Catholic" if their actions separate themselves from the church in this dramatic way.
