Stopped in at the local "religious articles" shop this afternoon. You know the type: rosaries, crosses, holy cards, big "family" Bibles, all kinds of statues, plastic and otherwise, a few books ….
As soon as I walked in the owner looked up and smiled. Before I could close the door, she asked, archly, "the new 2006 guide for ‘Christian Prayer’? I’m sold out."
Actually, I replied, I was looking for the guide to the four volume set, which she did have in stock.
At least here in my little corner of suburban New Jersey, and according to her, the Liturgy of the Hours, especially in the one volume edition, is both quite popular and much used.
