When was the last time you thought about our troops?

Sadly, I believe there are many Americans who can go for days at a time without giving them a thought.

Take a few minutes out of your day and watch this video…then read on about ways we can honor them.

These are people who have volunteered for the job they are doing.  They believe in this country, they believe in freedom and they are willing to put their lives on the line to combat the forces who would destroy everything we hold dear.

Ten years after 9/11, our military is composed of those who have chosen to join or stay with knowledge of what is going on in the world and what they might be asked to do.

I don’t believe for a minute that our military is made up mostly of people who can’t find anything else worthwhile to do with their lives–many of them are among our finest and brightest and we owe them a debt we cannot repay.

So, when was the last time you offered some sort of support to our men and women serving here and deployed overseas? It can be as easy as sending an email, donating money to send a care package through one of the many online organizations who are continually providing support, or just finding out when local troops are arriving back home and greeting them with applause as they deplane at the airport.

If you see a soldier in uniform, stop and thank him/her for serving.

Sign up with one of the organizations that lets you adopt a soldier or a platoon and ship packages and letter directly to them.

Let them know we remember.

P.S.  If you know of an organization or website that is supporting the military, please post the contact information in a comment so we can pass it along.
