It surely seems these days as if rain is on everyone’s mind.  Either you’re getting way too much of it and can hardly wait for it to stop, or you haven’t seen rain in a couple of years and would give your right arm for a good rainstorm.

I grew up in Hawaii, and it rained almost every day…often while the sun continued to shine.  Those were light, gentle showers.  I’ve also been through a couple of hurricanes where the rain came down so hard it looked like a wall of water. I love rain.

The thing about rain besides its actual physical presence is what it symbolizes:

Life

Refreshment

Growth

Sorrow

Loss

Tears

Comfort

Cleansing

God’s blessing

I’ve put together an ecclectic collection of songs about rain.  There’s something here for everyone, so settle in and enjoy.

The first two are just for fun–you can’t beat Gene Kelly or Winnie the Pooh.

The Rain Rain Rain Came Down Down Down – Winnie the Pooh

This one’s a total classic if you grew up in the ’60’s and I love listening to it.

A sad song about rain…

In the Rain…The Dramatics

Never heard this one before, but it’s worth a listen

Stand in the Rain

Creed is back with new music, and this is a great song about finding the meaning of life.

Another one for fun–Phil Collins has an amazing voice.  Don’t turn it off because there’s no music when it starts …

Phil Collins – I Wish it Would Rain

I’ve never heard Priscilla Ahn before, but I love her voice. What happens on a rainy day at your house?

A song about the healing rain of God…

Healing Rain – Michael W Smith

And last, but not least, a song about God’s grace that falls down on us like rain.  His grace gently showers our spirits bringing refreshment and nourishment and a taste of His everlasting love.

Grace like Rain – Aaron Keyes
