The month of February is all about love and Valentine’s Day.  There are so many kinds of love that sometimes it’s hard to figure out just what kind of love we have for certain individuals.  There is the special love between a man and a women.  There is parent to child love.  Love between friends and love for God’s family.  All of these are valid loves we can experience them all at the same time.

The Bible has a lot to say about the qualities of love in I Corinthians 13:4-8, ” Love is patient and kind.  Love is not jealous, it does not brag and it is not proud.  Love is not rude, is not selfish, and does not get upset with others.  Love does not count up wrongs that have been done.  Love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth.  Love patiently accepts all things.  It  always trusts, always hopes, and always remains strong.” (The Everyday Bible)

That is a pretty tall order for anyone to fill, but if God requires it of us, it must be possible to accomplish.  I believe that none of has perfected this love thing, except for God Himself.  but if we all keep working at it and  we will grow better with each new day.

Valentines Day is a holiday built around the romantic love we feel for our spouses, girl friends/boy friends, or even our soul mates.  We send cards, flowers, candy, and many other things to express our love for that individual.  This year I’m giving my husband a red bird feeder.  He loves to watch the birds as they fight over the yummy seeds and fruit we put out for them.

Sometimes our human relationships fail and leave us hurt and broken.  God’s love will never fail.  We sing a song at church that says, ” God’s love never fails, it never gives up, and it never runs out on me.”  How truly wonderful and comforting to know that God’s love NEVER FAILS!
