Physicians  Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) in Washington, DC believe that there is evidence that hot dogs can promote cancer.  They claim hot dogs should come with a warning label similar to cigarettes.  Processed meats, like hot dogs, can increase your risk for diabetes, heart disease, and some forms of cancer.

America runs on hot dogs, apple pie, and baseball.  How can we not eat hot dogs anymore?  It’s un-American!  What else can you get at a ballgame or racing event that makes you feel so good?  They even taste better when you are sitting in the grandstands.   And; what about all our summer cookouts?  Can we really eliminate hot dogs from our menus?  What will our children eat?

The American Cancer Research Center claims that the sodium nitrate is the real villan here.  They have determined that eating one hot dog a day can increase your risk of colorectal cancer by 21%.  They feel it’s important that people know the risk.  So, know the risk and be wise hot doggers.

I say let’s buy good hot dogs.  I love the casing style dogs and most of them are locally processed so you can actually know what’s in them.  Also, I guess all beef or turkey dogs might be better for your health.  If we limit our hot dog intake to special occasions and sports events, that would help, and just eat one, not four at a time.

The Bible says  in Philippians 4:5 “Let your moderation be known to all men.”  God is so smart!!!  If we do all things in moderation, most of the risk factor is illuminated; not only concerning hot dogs, but in many areas of our lives.
