That’s the question of a documentary aired by BBC, which looks at the relationship between religion and evolution. Connor Cunningham, the documentary’s host, is a firm believer in evolution as well as a Christian. The apparent clash between science and religion, he argues, comes from extremists on both sides who have hijacked the debate to promote their own views, not from an inherent incompatibility. Throughout the documentary, Cunningham tries to overturn some of the mistaken assumptions held by many regarding the relationship of science and religion.

The hour long documentary includes interviews with both young earth creationists and ultra-Darwinists — the term Cunningham uses to describe those who believe that evolution necessarily leads to atheism. He also interviews Francis Collins as an example of a scientist who has come to accept both Christian belief and evolution.
