Safe Place with Ruth Graham

We celebrate our freedom this week with all sorts of travel, family time, picnics, fireworks and all manner of festivities. Have a safe and wonderful time. Our freedom is not free. It was bought with blood. We dare not take it for granted. We are free far more than just nationally. We are free spiritually…

I went to visit my father for Father’s Day. We had a great time. While there I was reading a book on Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. I ran across this quote on happiness from Dr. Anthony Clare: “Happiness is a cognitive state, and intellectual perception or understanding of you, the person and your relationship…

I was in Riverside, California two weeks ago. I spoke to the women of Sandals Church on Saturday and then the pastor, Matt Brown, “interviewed” me during the Sunday morning services – incorporating it into his sermon for Mother’s Day. He has been doing a series on “honor” – Mother’s Day he preached about honoring…

When we think of Memorial Day we think of the start of summer, 4-day weekend, cookouts, sales events…My granddaughter was watching TV with me this morning and an ad for a  Memorial Day  car sale was trying to entice us into buying a car. My granddaughter asked, “What’s Memorial Day?” I am glad she asked but it…

I made a trip out to New Mexico last week to speak for the Lincoln County National Day of Prayer event. It is the largest per capita in the country. They had 1400 people in attendance at 6:30 in the morning! Wonderful, warm people – it was a privilege to be a small part of…

Charles Colson died yesterday. I have been interested in reading and hearing the media report on it. The media has reported his death. In a 10 inch column 3/4s of it recounts his transgressions during the Watergate scandal. And there were many. Then they mention his conversion to Christ. However, the report in heaven might…

I had the privilege this week of speaking in Fort Worth for Lifeline Chaplaincy based out of Houston. They place good and godly chaplains in hospitals in Texas. A great group! While there I had breakfast with a special friend. I hadn’t seen her for some years but she is the kind of friend that…

He is risen! Hallelujah!

From the cross Jesus declared, “It is finished.” for all of heaven and hell to hear. It echoed through the ages. The human experience was cosmicly changed. God had accomplished His plan to redeem all of mankind. When we think that tithing, serving at church, being kind to our neighbor, not cheating on taxes, getting…

I am expecting my children for Easter. I am so excited! I have been busy getting the bedrooms ready – my house will be stuffed to the gills. I am trying to think  of things they may need or want. I have been baking and cooking the things they like. We have our traditional dishes.…

Ruth Graham
about

Ruth Graham

“Transparent” is the word most people use to describe Ruth Graham.

No stranger to heartache, she seeks to provide a Biblical perspective to her journey of faith. She is warm and talks openly about her own need for a safe place as she journeyed through her husband’s infidelities, her subsequent depression, her divorces, her teenage daughter’s two unplanned pregnancies, another daughter’s bulimia, her son’s battle with drugs, grandson's special needs and returning to school at age 40.

Although born into the "famous" Graham family Ruth did not feel she had a safe place to unburden the secrets of her life. She felt she had to project and image and wear a mask that she "had it all together". She had to meet others' expectations of her. It was not until a mid-life crisis did that she fully discover the unconditional love and grace of God. Her life's passion is to connect people to that same grace and love she found, no matter who they are or what sin.

Ruth is an experienced conference speaker and Bible teacher. She has appeared on a variety of radio and television shows including: Good Morning, America, The Hour of Power, Focus on the Family, Moody Broadcasting, Fox & Friends, CBN, Life Today and CNN. She has worked in publishing for over 14 years and is the founder of the Ruth Graham & Friends Ministry.

Ruth has three grown children and nine grandchildren. She lives in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Her life Bible verse is John 1:16.
