Safe Place with Ruth Graham

Safe Place with Ruth Graham

Bio

“Transparent” is the word most people use to describe Ruth Graham.

No stranger to heartache, she seeks to provide a Biblical perspective to her journey of faith. She is warm and talks openly about her own need for a safe place as she journeyed through her husband’s infidelities, her subsequent depression, her divorces, her teenage daughter’s two unplanned pregnancies, another daughter’s bulimia, her son’s battle with drugs, grandson's special needs and returning to school at age 40.

Although born into the "famous" Graham family Ruth did not feel she had a safe place to unburden the secrets of her life. She felt she had to project and image and wear a mask that she "had it all together". She had to meet others' expectations of her. It was not until a mid-life crisis did that she fully discover the unconditional love and grace of God. Her life's passion is to connect people to that same grace and love she found, no matter who they are or what sin.

Named for her mother, Ruth is the third child of Rev. Billy Graham and his wife Ruth Bell Graham.

Ruth founded the Ruth Graham & Friends Ministry in 2006. She seeks to minister God’s grace and restoration to those who feel marginalized within the church and to better equip churches themselves to address the needs of the hurting in their midst.

Ruth is an experienced conference speaker and Bible teacher. She has appeared on a variety of radio and television shows including: Good Morning, America, The Hour of Power, Focus on the Family, Moody Broadcasting, Fox & Friends, CBN, Life Today and CNN.

She worked in publishing for 13 years as an acquisitions editor and for five years was the Donor Relations Coordinator for Samaritan’s Purse. She worked as Major Gifts Officer at Mary Baldwin College. She graduated cum laude from Mary Baldwin College in 2000 and received the college’s Outstanding Adult Student award. She also has an honorary doctorate of Humane Letters from Eastern University.

Ruth has three grown children and nine grandchildren. She lives in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Her life Bible verse is John 1:16.

Hope vs. Despair
Have you ever been depressed? Low? Lower than a "lizard's belt buckle", as my mother used to say. "Cast down", as King David said in Psalm 42. David wrote he cried day and night while men taunted him. He thought back to the good times which made him feel worse. He uses the word,  "disturbed" -

The Iron Dome
Last Saturday night, my little town did its fireworks - we do them the week after the 4th. As I crawled into bed, I could hear all the booms and see the glow from the explosions in the distance. Of course, I couldn't help but think of those in war-torn areas of he world. I remember being in Sar

A Pedophile's Dream...Sex Traffickers Welcome!
There is a lot of talk about the immigration issue and the situation on our Southern border. What Cancer Cannot Do
It seems as if cancer is an epidemic! Sometimes I wonder if it is the stress-filled and face -paced lives we all live that create the environment for cancers. Everyone knows someone suffering from it - it robs so much from  the person and family. Someone passed this on to me. It is so well don

Prisoner Exchange
Well, there certainly has been a dust-up over the release of the American held captive by the Taliban in exchange for 5 Taliban warriors.
