“Transparent” is the word most people use to describe Ruth Graham.
No stranger to heartache, she seeks to provide a Biblical perspective to her journey of faith. She is warm and talks openly about her own need for a safe place as she journeyed through her husband’s infidelities, her subsequent depression, her divorces, her teenage daughter’s two unplanned pregnancies, another daughter’s bulimia, her son’s battle with drugs, grandson's special needs and returning to school at age 40.
Although born into the "famous" Graham family Ruth did not feel she had a safe place to unburden the secrets of her life. She felt she had to project and image and wear a mask that she "had it all together". She had to meet others' expectations of her. It was not until a mid-life crisis did that she fully discover the unconditional love and grace of God. Her life's passion is to connect people to that same grace and love she found, no matter who they are or what sin.
Ruth is an experienced conference speaker and Bible teacher. She has appeared on a variety of radio and television shows including: Good Morning, America, The Hour of Power, Focus on the Family, Moody Broadcasting, Fox & Friends, CBN, Life Today and CNN. She has worked in publishing for over 14 years and is the founder of the Ruth Graham & Friends Ministry.
Ruth has three grown children and nine grandchildren. She lives in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Her life Bible verse is John 1:16.
We have heard that 21 Coptic Christians died at the brutal hands of ISIS over the weekend. They are martyrs for their faith. As I was having my devotions this morning the words of an old hymn written by Frederick […]
I arrived back in the US Wednesday afternoon after traveling almost 20 hours from India – literally half way around the world. It was a marvelous, fascinating, exhausting trip. A host of wonderful memories of sights and sounds. Last Sunday as […]
Tomorrow, I leave for 10 days in India. I have never been to that part of the world so am looking forward to it greatly. We are going up near the Bhutan border…way north in the tea growing capital – […]
When confronted with something unpleasant or difficult how do you react? Do you try to eliminate it? Control it? Distract yourself? Talk to others about it? Get angry? Have a pity party? If you are normal you probably do a […]
I think I have mentioned before that I do not make resolutions. I rarely am able to keep them – often I don’t remember them by month’s end. My intentions are good but resolutions become a source of defeat for […]
Rejoice – the Lord has come! There is Hope. Peace. Joy.
This is Christmas week. There is an excitement and an anticipation. Strangers greet each other cheerily. Family travels great distances to be together. Lights glitter from windows. Good smells emanate from the kitchen. Children cannot sleep. Mothers are exhausted. And […]
Well…the house is decorated. The cookies baked. The presents bought – and most already wrapped. Others mailed out. I remember when I treated wrapping as an art form – each was decorated to perfection – almost like Martha Stewart. Gone […]
Have you ever felt dull? Tired? Like the color gray? Just no joy in living. No spark of excitement. Everyone on FaceBook seems to have the joy and energy for the season- but you. With the holidays coming on you […]
