“Transparent” is the word most people use to describe Ruth Graham.
No stranger to heartache, she seeks to provide a Biblical perspective to her journey of faith. She is warm and talks openly about her own need for a safe place as she journeyed through her husband’s infidelities, her subsequent depression, her divorces, her teenage daughter’s two unplanned pregnancies, another daughter’s bulimia, her son’s battle with drugs, grandson's special needs and returning to school at age 40.
Although born into the "famous" Graham family Ruth did not feel she had a safe place to unburden the secrets of her life. She felt she had to project and image and wear a mask that she "had it all together". She had to meet others' expectations of her. It was not until a mid-life crisis did that she fully discover the unconditional love and grace of God. Her life's passion is to connect people to that same grace and love she found, no matter who they are or what sin.
Ruth is an experienced conference speaker and Bible teacher. She has appeared on a variety of radio and television shows including: Good Morning, America, The Hour of Power, Focus on the Family, Moody Broadcasting, Fox & Friends, CBN, Life Today and CNN. She has worked in publishing for over 14 years and is the founder of the Ruth Graham & Friends Ministry.
Ruth has three grown children and nine grandchildren. She lives in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Her life Bible verse is John 1:16.
I think I shared with you last year that I decided to read through the Chronological Bible in 2015. I did. I heartily recommend it. The year’s reading ends in Revelation. With all the tragic news of 2015, all the […]
We are entering a new year. We may have plans, goals, and resolutions but have we stopped to invite God into the process? It is good to plan the year. Ask Him meet us in it – to dwell with […]
It had been a long 400 years of silence. Malachi had been the last “official” word from God. Now the silence was deafening. Life went on but where was God? Did He care? Did He leave them? Did He forget […]
Well, you have to live under a rock not to know that the new Star Wars, The Force Returns, will come out later this week. People have camped out for weeks at theaters to get a seat with pre-bought tickets. […]
At church on Sunday a lovely young, very pregnant woman sang a solo of “Mary Did You Know? That song has become one of my favorites. But it caused me to think – what did Mary know? We aren’t given […]
All my children and most of my grandchildren have gathered. I love it. My two 19 year old grandsons could not come due to work schedules and my one son-in-law works for UPS so this is his busy season. My […]
God tells us to pray for our enemies. Even to love them. That is impossible on our own. Seeing the photos and news reports from Paris makes my blood boil and I want to bomb our enemies into oblivion. I […]
I may get in trouble here… I have watched the news concerning the couple in Washington State that refused to bake a wedding cake for a same sex couple getting “married”. I watched the news reports on the elected Clerk […]
Speak that I may hear The truth very clear. The truth that is very dear To my heart, dear Lord. And if it isn’t Make it so. That I may know I walk with You.
The definition of meek in Webster’s College Dictionary is: “1. humbly patient or docile, 2. overly submissive or compliant; spiritless; tame; 3. gentle, kind. Far be it from me to disagree with Webster! But… the Bible said Moses was the […]
