Safe Place with Ruth Graham

Safe Place with Ruth Graham

Bio

“Transparent” is the word most people use to describe Ruth Graham.

No stranger to heartache, she seeks to provide a Biblical perspective to her journey of faith. She is warm and talks openly about her own need for a safe place as she journeyed through her husband’s infidelities, her subsequent depression, her divorces, her teenage daughter’s two unplanned pregnancies, another daughter’s bulimia, her son’s battle with drugs, grandson's special needs and returning to school at age 40.

Although born into the "famous" Graham family Ruth did not feel she had a safe place to unburden the secrets of her life. She felt she had to project and image and wear a mask that she "had it all together". She had to meet others' expectations of her. It was not until a mid-life crisis did that she fully discover the unconditional love and grace of God. Her life's passion is to connect people to that same grace and love she found, no matter who they are or what sin.

Named for her mother, Ruth is the third child of Rev. Billy Graham and his wife Ruth Bell Graham.

Ruth founded the Ruth Graham & Friends Ministry in 2006. She seeks to minister God’s grace and restoration to those who feel marginalized within the church and to better equip churches themselves to address the needs of the hurting in their midst.

Ruth is an experienced conference speaker and Bible teacher. She has appeared on a variety of radio and television shows including: Good Morning, America, The Hour of Power, Focus on the Family, Moody Broadcasting, Fox & Friends, CBN, Life Today and CNN.

She worked in publishing for 13 years as an acquisitions editor and for five years was the Donor Relations Coordinator for Samaritan’s Purse. She worked as Major Gifts Officer at Mary Baldwin College. She graduated cum laude from Mary Baldwin College in 2000 and received the college’s Outstanding Adult Student award. She also has an honorary doctorate of Humane Letters from Eastern University.

Ruth has three grown children and nine grandchildren. She lives in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Her life Bible verse is John 1:16.

Why?

I have watched the news with profound sadness and real questions. Questions are good and natural at such a time. Anger too. Wow. There is just not much to say at such a time. But I think of the message […]

Found this on a website and it gives one pause: As of November 2012, Jose Mujica, the president of Uruguay, held a unique position—the BBC called him “the world’s poorest president.” It’s a common complaint that many politicians around the […]

Lasting Gifts
Well...the house is decorated. The cookies baked. The presents bought - and most already wrapped. Others mailed out. The Blessings that Remain
I may have posted this last year...it's worth repeating.   There are loved ones that are missing From the fireside and the feast; There are faces that have vanished There are voices that have ceased; And we know they passed forever From our mortal grief and pain - And we

Being Thankful
I  got this some years ago. It is by an unknown author. It's all a matter of perspective.   Being thankful for: The mess to clean after a party because it means I have been surrounded by friends. The taxes I pay because it means that I am employed. The clothes that fit a little
