“Transparent” is the word most people use to describe Ruth Graham.
No stranger to heartache, she seeks to provide a Biblical perspective to her journey of faith. She is warm and talks openly about her own need for a safe place as she journeyed through her husband’s infidelities, her subsequent depression, her divorces, her teenage daughter’s two unplanned pregnancies, another daughter’s bulimia, her son’s battle with drugs, grandson's special needs and returning to school at age 40.
Although born into the "famous" Graham family Ruth did not feel she had a safe place to unburden the secrets of her life. She felt she had to project and image and wear a mask that she "had it all together". She had to meet others' expectations of her. It was not until a mid-life crisis did that she fully discover the unconditional love and grace of God. Her life's passion is to connect people to that same grace and love she found, no matter who they are or what sin.
Ruth is an experienced conference speaker and Bible teacher. She has appeared on a variety of radio and television shows including: Good Morning, America, The Hour of Power, Focus on the Family, Moody Broadcasting, Fox & Friends, CBN, Life Today and CNN. She has worked in publishing for over 14 years and is the founder of the Ruth Graham & Friends Ministry.
Ruth has three grown children and nine grandchildren. She lives in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Her life Bible verse is John 1:16.
It had been a long 400 years of silence. Malachi had been the last “official” word from God. Now the silence was deafening. Life went on but where was God? Did He care? Did He leave them? Did He forget […]
I don’t think any of us can get the school shootings out of our minds. The images haunt us. The news bombards us with speculation then finally facts make their way into the news. The analysts try to come up […]
Christmas seems to have rolled around faster this year. Perhaps because I am older…Yikes! Perhaps it is because the stores begin to put out Christmas items in July and August. And how many times can you hear “O Holy Night” […]
I have watched the news with profound sadness and real questions. Questions are good and natural at such a time. Anger too. Wow. There is just not much to say at such a time. But I think of the message […]
Found this on a website and it gives one pause: As of November 2012, Jose Mujica, the president of Uruguay, held a unique position—the BBC called him “the world’s poorest president.” It’s a common complaint that many politicians around the […]
Well, we made it through the 2nd holiday of the season…two more to go. I counted Halloween as the first though I’d rather not! Then Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. I wonder why they all seem to congregate at the […]
I posted this to my other blog this morning and thought I would share it here. Let’s not forget to pray for the General and his family. We may never get the true story. I find it suspect that this […]
The country has decided. Mr. Obama will lead this country for another four years. Whether you voted for him or for Governor Romney, please pray for both men. They campaigned hard for their vision of America and gave their all. […]
Well…at last the day is upon us! I don’t know about you but I am weary of the political season that seems to go on full time…never ends. As soon as tomorrow is over – if it is over tomorrow […]
Wow! We are being hit with an historic storm of major proportions. Apocalyptic? That word has been used. It is an important question to ask. What is going on? Have we ever seen so many troubling things at one time? Everything […]
