Election Day!

posted by Ruth Graham

Well…at last the day is upon us! I don’t know about you but I am weary of the political season that seems to go on full time…never ends. As soon as tomorrow is over – if it is over tomorrow – they will begin the campaigns for 2014…then 2016. The time and money spent ona campaign is obscene. In a world like ours with so many need and so many hurts…I am quite sure Jesus’ priorities would be very different!

But we live here and now and deal with what is in front of us. Tomorrrow we will make a decision. When we get up we can decide to vote or not. I pray you will vote – that you exercise your right, privilege and obligation. Yes, we are all busy…but this is critical. Not many people in the world have this opportunity to decide the future of their country, children and grandchildren.

We have a great country and the vote tomorrow is not so much about differing policies but differing philosphies. We have clear options. As I see it, one man’s philosphy is that government is the answer and we as a people are the tools. The other man’s philosophy is that we as a people are the answer and government is the tool.

We can make our choice. Tomorrow. Vote. And praise God we live in a free country where we can vote. We live in “a safe place”!

God bless you.

Being Thankful

You Exercised Your Freedom!
We live in a great, albeit flawed country! It feels good to vote - when I go to the pols each Election Day I feel like it's Christmas! I get excited about my opportunity to make my voice count. We are privileged to be able to vote in freedom with no fear of reprisal. Thank you for voting. Many

Vote!
It is your civic duty to vote. No excuse. It is at the very heart of this great nation. I know I get sick and tired of all the politics and wrangling but this is the one time we have to voice our opinion. Thee is such division in this land - I hardly recognize my country anymore. But I will vote

The "War on Women"
In recent years there has been discussion about a "war on women". I am not sure what that means. Perhaps it started with a woman's right over her own body, her right to choose. Or equal pay for equal work, though I see that as a human rights issue.  The glass ceiling, which seems to me to be shatte

Who am I and why am I here?
Back in the 1960s - 19870s there was this "youth revolution". Young people were questioning authority, rejecting authority...many of these youth we labeled, "hippies". They  threw over the conventional and traditional to come up with their own "relative" truth. I suppose each generation has their o
