From the cross Jesus declared, “It is finished.” for all of heaven and hell to hear. It echoed through the ages. The human experience was cosmicly changed. God had accomplished His plan to redeem all of mankind.

When we think that tithing, serving at church, being kind to our neighbor, not cheating on taxes, getting up early for devotional time, “being good”, somehow makes God love us more, earns us favor with God, we do not understand, “It is fnished”. What part of “it is finished” do you not get? We can do nothing to earn anything with God. My nephew, Tullian Tchividjian, has written a marveous little book but so profound: Jesus + Nothing = Everything. I suggest you get a copy and let the truth of it sink deep into your heart, mind and soul.

His redemption is free. A free gift. All we have to do is accept it. That’s what is so amazing about God. He did all of that for you and me – no strings attached. No pre-qualification. It’s free. He loves us that much. How can we not worship today and everyday with a grateful heart. That’s the best way to celebrate Good Friday – worship.
