They do make Calvinists like they used to.They do it in the PCA, not the PCUSA. The Presbyterian Church of (or in?) America is to Presbyterianism what the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod is to Lutheranism. That’s to say, an orthodox body that adheres to the confessional writings of that tradition. In each case it’s the smaller denomination that has stuck to the tradition, in contrast to the larger, mainline denomination.

Eh, it’s an opening session at a large meeting in a convention center. It looked fine to me. There’s a certain futility in judging other people’s religious traditions on aesthstic grounds, unless you want to defend men in dresses and long beards swinging incense and chanting in Russian or Latin. Kind of nutty and weird if you aren’t part of that tradition.

They don’t look like Presbyterians to me.
But in all seriousness, I probably would have walked out after that.

Wow! that is almost like the closing ceremony at the recent 3 day Los Angeles diocesan meeting. no wonder so many Catholic masses don’t seem to be Catholic anymore they’ve been plagiarizing from their Presby brethren

The PCUSA is in no sense Calvinist, if that means adhering to the theology of John Calvin and his faithful successors like Knox, Edwards, etc. They left all that behind a long time ago in exchange for the typical, watery, revisionist liberalism that is sinking all of the formerly “mainline” and now “sideline” churches.
