I’m struggling to get my footing on this new blog. As you know, I’m no longer blogging about politics and the culture war, and as a result, my readership numbers have dipped. It’s going to take some time to build them back up, and I’m confident this can happen. Still, I was not prepared for the degree to which politics/culture war drove this blog’s high number of page views.
But that’s not all of it. Two faithful longtime readers have recently complained to me that this blog is now, in the words of one, “too eggheady.” It’s not as much fun to read. Do you agree? If so, how could I fix that? I’m trying to learn how to blog in a different tone, and in a different style. I don’t want to be remote and eggheady, because that’s not who I am. I do find that the topics I’m blogging on these days defy quick-hit takes. But I do need to find a way to get back to at least some of those.
Any constructive advice you can give me about how to make this new blog better? What would you like to see more of?
