As I said when we first learned Kennedy had cancer, I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. I didn’t know at the time that I probably had it as well. I watched my grandma wither away to nothing and have always feared the worse when I hear of others getting cancer and was devastated when I found out I had it. Now I know that its not necessarily a death sentence but in Kennedy’s case it proved to be and I think that we all can note his passing no matter our political affiliation:

Ted Kennedy, the last of the storied band of brothers whose triumphs and tragedies dominated a generation of American politics, has died after losing a battle with brain cancer.
The “liberal lion” of the Senate, who was once tipped to succeed his assassinated elder brother John F. Kennedy as president, died late Tuesday at his home in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts after losing a year-long battle with cancer. He was 77.
“We’ve lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever,” the Kennedy family said in a statement.
“He loved this country and devoted his life to serving it,” the statement said, praising his “tireless march for progress toward justice, fairness and opportunity for all.”

Please join me in praying for his friends and family as they mourn his loss, especially as it comes so quickly after the death of Eunice Kennedy Shriver, his sister. May God comfort them in the coming days.
I think we can all agree that it’s certainly a sad day when cancer claims another life. I pray that we can find a cure one day.
