Palin: Obama got started with help from terrorist

posted by Susan Johnson

Whoa! I’d say the gloves are off! And she’s right, it’s an undisputed fact that Obama’s political career got it’s start at a fundraiser at Bill Ayers house.BTW, at the end of the clip Palin mentions Tina Fey and says that she will do her best to give Fey material to keep her in business. Um….let’s hope not since Fey is only interested in the stupid things that Palin says. She’s playing her as an airhead not an attack dog.(via)

What Is Reformed Theology?
The most common question we are asked by people who hear about the Institute is “What is Reformed theology?” It is an excellent question, one for which a short answer is, at best, reductive, and, at worst, misleading. In this essay, the former Director of the Institute attempts to answer this question in a broad, rather than narrow, way. If you have questions about Reformed theology, or about the Institute, please contact us.
What is “Reformed”?
Generally, all the churches that grew from the sixteenth-century revolt against the Roman church, can be called reformed. However, the term “Reformed” specifically designates that branch of the Reformation of the western church originally characterized by a distinctively non-Lutheran, Augustinian sacramental theology with a high ecclesiology but little regard for ecclesiatical tradition that is not traceable to the Scriptures or the earliest church. Those churches in the “Reformed tradition” are regarded as being in the line of churches that grew from the Reform in certain Swiss free cities and cantons, in non-Lutheran Germany, and in Hungary, Bohemia, and southern France in the early and mid sixteenth century.
The leaders of this branch of the church understood themselves to be “reformed” in two ways: first, they were “reformed” from what they believed to be the defective practice of Christianity promulgated by the corrupt Roman Catholicism of the day. Sometimes, this position is summed up in the phrase “Ecclesia Reformata, semper reformanda,” which means “the Reformed church, always to be reformed.” In the context of the sixteenth century (and the mind of the Reformers) this phrase does not mean that the church is always morphing into something new with the passage of time (a common misconstrual in our own day). Instead, this seventeenth-century motto is consistent with the Reformers’ idea that they were not innovating, but “turning again” to the form of the church and belief originated by Jesus Christ, lived out by the first disciples and early church, and born witness to in the writings of the Old and New Testaments shorn of later additions.
Second, as implied above, Reformed means rejecting the idea that tradition can provide a sufficient form for matters of belief. Instead, the Reformers insisted that “the Word of God” was the only ultimate source of appeal in matters of faith, and that all other sources of knowledge, including a church’s tradition, had to appeal to this central source.

Errors of Calvinism

posted October 7, 2008 at 7:52 am

“Calvinism” is very popular and many Christians, though they would not identify themselves as Calvinists, may have embraced some of Calvin’s doctrine without realizing it. The doctrine is named after a man named John Calvin, a reformer, who lived in the 1500’s. Calvinism propagates error. Knowledge of error helps us to be discerning when listening to, or reading, Christian material. If a teacher is a Calvinist, all that they teach will be taught through the lens of Calvinism. The result of this Calvinistic “bent” will be teaching that is dangerously distorted.
T.U.L.I.P. is an acronym used to describe the main five points of Calvinism. This is just a simple outline of Calvinism. Discerning error keeps us from ingesting error. By putting a label on the bottle of poison, we are warned, and that label will keep us from ingesting something dangerous.
1. TOTAL DEPRAVITY – This “Calvin” doctrine propagates the error that that man is so depraved and corrupt that he is not capable of making a choice to follow the Lord. It is taught that God is the one who predestines some to believe in Him and be born again, and predestines others not to believe in Him. The ones who are not predestined to believe will perish in hell. This doctrine denies free will. They say it doesn’t, but it does.
SCRIPTURE CLEARLY TEACHES that an individual has the God given ability to choose:
Matthew 11:20 “Then began he (Jesus) to UPBRAID the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:”
UPBRAID – Find fault with, or reproach severely. (
Luke 13:34 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but YOU WERE NOT WILLING!” (NKJV)
Romans 1:18-20 “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for GOD HAS SHOWN IT TO THEM. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that THEY ARE WITHOUT EXCUSE,” (NKJV)
2. UNCONDITIONAL ELECTION – This “Calvin” doctrine propagates the error that some individuals are elected/chosen to salvation, and some are not. It is taught that God’s choices are unconditional.
SCRIPTURE CLEARLY TEACHES that Christ is the chosen, Christ is the elect. When we believe the gospel we are then called chosen and elect because we are “in Christ.” It’s not about us, it’s about Christ.
Matthew 12:18 “Behold my servant, whom I have CHOSEN; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.”
Luke 23:35 “And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the CHOSEN of God.”
Isaiah 42:1 “Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine ELECT, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.”
3. LIMITED ATONEMENT – This “Calvin” doctrine propagates the error that Christ’s atoning work on the cross was only for certain individuals.
SCRIPTURE CLEARLY TEACHES that Christ’s atonement is available to all people.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Luke 2:10 “And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to ALL people.”
Luke 2:31 “Which thou hast prepared before the face of ALL people;”
2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
Revelation 22:17 “And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And WHOSOEVER WILL, let him take the water of life freely.”
4. IRRESISTIBLE GRACE – This “Calvin” doctrine propagates the error that when God calls a person to salvation, that person cannot resist God’s call.
SCRIPTURE CLEARLY TEACHES that it is possible to resist the Holy Ghost.
How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but YOU WERE NOT WILLING! (NKJV)
Acts 7:51 “Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, YE DO ALWAYS RESIST THE HOLY GHOST: as your fathers did, so do ye.”
5. PERSEVERANCE OF THE SAINTS (also known as Once Saved Always Saved) – This “Calvin” doctrine propagates the error that a person can never fall away from the faith.
SCRIPTURE CLEARLY TEACHES that it is possible to “fall away from the faith.”
John 8:31 “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, IF YE CONTINUE in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;”
1 Timothy 1:19 “Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away CONCERNING FAITH HAVE MADE SHIPWRECK:”
2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have KEPT THE FAITH:”
2 Peter 2:20-22 “For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have KNOWN the way of righteousness, than, after they have KNOWN it, to TURN from the holy commandment delivered unto them. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is TURNED to his own vomit again; and the sow that WAS WASHED to her wallowing in the mire.”
A Christian sister once said . . . the Lord draws, but we have the free will to respond, or not to respond, to that drawing. We are not robots. Also, a person is left to wonder if they are one of God’s chosen ones. How can anyone ever have any peace wondering if they are one of God’s elect. Our peace comes from the atoning work of Christ on the cross. There is stability at the cross. There is nothing to wonder about. Jesus said “whosoever will” may freely receive salvation. “And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And WHOSOEVER WILL, let him take the water of life freely.” Revelation 22:17 You can have peace and assurance that Christ is the chosen One, and when you believe in Him you are chosen in Him. This leaves the door to salvation open for all people, as God intended it to be, and as the scripture declares.
Believing truth, and continuing to do so, will give you peace because your assurance is firmly based upon Christ’s finished work of atonement. Understanding Calvinism helped me to understand that the doctrine of “once saved always saved” is a false doctrine. This was something I struggled with for many years. Why did it help me? Because I understood that the root of the “once saved always saved” teaching is Calvinism’s doctrine “irresistible grace.” The two are obviously connected. Error begets more error. As we have seen, it is possible to resist the Holy Ghost, and what a serious thing it is to do so.
Calvinistic teaching superimposes itself upon Scripture. It is man’s teaching, not God’s. ” I have written this because I love the Lord, and I love the brethren. False doctrine is harmful, and causes division among God’s people. My prayer is that we, the followers of Jesus Christ, will be guided into all truth. As the scripture says in John 16:13 “. . . when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”

As we say here below the Mason-Dixon line, that dog won’t hunt. Shame on McCain and Palin for their desperate attempt to distract voters from issues where they are behind — the economy and national security. Shame on you for perpetuating it. This odious smear reflects more on the people perpetuating it than on those they are attacking.
Politicians meet and work with and reach out to and accept contributions from a lot of people. That does not mean that they agree with every stand taken by those people. As Don Marquis said, “An idea is not responsible for the people who believe in it.”
Bill Ayers has spent 35 years in educational reform and has been widely recognized throughout Chicago and nationally as a leader on these issues. He has been in every respect a law-abiding citizen and contributor to society during that time. He has been misquoted as saying he wished he had engaged in more acts of violence; what he said was that he wished he had done more to stop the war. There is no evidence whatsover that Barack Obama has ever supported any of the Weathermen’s tactics.
The Ayers connection has been vetted many times by many investigative reporters and political opponents and nothing has ever come of it. McCain and Palin should stick to the issues the voters care about — the economy and national security. They should stop telling us that they accept no responsibility for the current situation because they are mavericks and believe in reform and get more specific about how, for example, the bailout will affect their proposed programs and stop fixating on what Bill Ayers was doing when Barack Obama was eight years old and thousands of miles away.

in mccain’s own words not so long ago on april 23 this year:

“I’m making it very clear, as I have a couple of times in the past, that there’s no place for that kind of campaigning, and the American people don’t want it.”

skip forward to yesterday when mccain and his (second) wife cindy were caught on camera smirking with pride for their efforts after inciting a crowd into calling obama a terrorist.
apparently mccain was mistaken – there is in fact a place for it… when there’s a month to go and your 6 points down in the national polls and losing red states left and right.
pathetic and desperate, and hardly presidential of mccain.
considering that he voted to protect domestic terrorists back in 1993, mccain should stop his attempt to smear obama with guilt by association. in the late 80s and early 90s, extrimist right-wing “pro-lifers” were attacking, killing, bombing people at womens clinics where legal abortions were performed ( legislation was drawn up that would protect women and doctors and bystanders from these terrorists. it passed 69 to 30 (one absent). mccain voted against it:

“Obama got started with help from terrorist… it’s an undisputed fact that Obama’s political career got it’s start at a fundraiser at Bill Ayers house.”
lier. your lie is absolutely disputed. and on several points, even.
1. arguably, ayers is not a “terrorist” (he’s only labeled as one by right-winge fear mongers) and he’s never even been convicted of a crime
2. there was never a fundraiser for obama at ayers house
3. obama’s career didn’t start there
4. this “fact” of yours is nothing more than debunked falsehoods
5. it’s been disputed by several independent fact checkers
so, i ask you this: what does this prove to likely voters about john mccain’s inability to fix our economic problems? when everyone in the know is attributing the current financial crisis to deregulation, and mccain has long been a champion for deregulation (and recently, too), and he’s on record several times admitting that the economy is something he doesn’t understand… how can mccain fix this very serious issue? by trying to smear obama with a loose association to a man who did detestable things during a tumultuous time 40 years ago?
these are the same rove tactics that mccain decried just months ago. he’s lost his objectivity in his pure lust for power. he’s so angry that he cannot even face obama. during the last debate, he never looked at obama, never even addressed him. a few days later, obama made his way across the senate isle to greet mccain and shake his hand… mccain barely acknowledged him. mccain does not have the proper disposition to lead the country.

Worse, Palin’s routine attacks on the media have begun to spill into ugliness. In Clearwater, arriving reporters were greeted with shouts and taunts by the crowd of about 3,000. Palin then went on to blame Katie Couric’s questions for her “less-than-successful interview with kinda mainstream media.” At that, Palin supporters turned on reporters in the press area, waving thunder sticks and shouting abuse. Others hurled obscenities at a camera crew. One Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, “Sit down, boy.”
The reception had been better in Clearwater, where Palin, speaking to a sea of “Palin Power” and “Sarahcuda” T-shirts, tried to link Obama to the 1960s Weather Underground. “One of his earliest supporters is a man named Bill Ayers,” she said. (“Boooo!” said the crowd.) “And, according to the New York Times, he was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, ‘launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and our U.S. Capitol,’ ” she continued. (“Boooo!” the crowd repeated.)
“Kill him!” proposed one man in the audience.
Stay classy, Palin supporters.

Palin Blasts Obama’s Ties to Weather Channel
‘Palling Around with Meteorologists,’ Guv Claims
Alaska governor Sarah Palin went on the attack today, claiming that Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama had longstanding ties to The Weather Channel.
“What does it say about our opponent that he thinks this nation’s weather is so imperfect that he needs to be allied with The Weather Channel?” she asked a crowd in Tampa, Florida. “There’s a fine line between hating America’s weather and hating America herself.”
Gov. Palin said that she learned about Sen. Obama’s ties to The Weather Channel last week “when I was trying hard to read The New York Times.”
“They said that Sen. Obama was hanging out with weathermen,” she said. “Do we really want to elect someone who has been palling around with meteorologists?”
Gov. Palin’s latest attacks came on the heels of a new poll showing that the only demographic group that still support her are morons, sometimes referred to by political insiders as “no-information voters.”
“It may sound like she spouting idiocy, but there’s a method to her madness,” said Tracy Klugian, a Republican strategist. “She’s speaking to her base.”
Elsewhere, Sen. John McCain’s practice session for the second presidential debate was cut short when his pants burst into flame.

“McCain Connections Coming Back to Haunt Him, Shared Stage with Abortion Doc Shooter Sympathizer”
Nick Juliano The Raw Story 10/7/08
“John McCain, who along with his running mate has been attacking Obama over decade-old associations with unseemly figures, is not without his own nefarious associations.
“One association, which seems to have gone unreported until now, involves a delegate who represented McCain at this year’s Republican convention and previously expressed sympathy for an activist accused of shooting a doctor who performed abortions.
“Applying the same logic as Sarah Palin, one could argue that the members of the GOP ticket are `palling around’ with abortion clinic attack sympathizers, supporters of right-wing militants, perpetrators of political espionage and revolutionaries seeking to secede from the United States.
“More attention is falling on the Arizona senator’s own past since his attacks on Obama and former radical Bill Ayers. The Obama campaign’s disquisition on Charles Keating just scratches the surface of what’s out there, as reporters and liberal activists dig into McCain’s web of connections.
“Blogger Jed Lewison highlighted McCain’s opposition to a 1994 law that made it a federal crime to bomb or blockade abortion clinics or to attack abortion doctors. McCain’s vote against the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act put him in league with the Senate’s most radical anti-abortion advocates, who split with more than two dozen anti-abortion senators who voted to crack down on clinic bombers as a matter of preserving law & order.
“What’s received less notice is where McCain was a few months before casting that vote.
“In August 1993, McCain traveled to the Pacific Northwest where he earned the illustrious distinction of becoming the first major politician to address the ultra-far-right Oregon Citizens Alliance. He was apparently making good on a promise he had made to the group the year before as he and other GOP leaders negotiated to prevent the Christian conservatives from running a third-party candidate against Sen. Bob Packwood, who would resign a few years later amid a sex scandal.”
There’s much more:

I’m not sure that the last few comments I made were posted, but I’ll try again.
William Ayers has been tolerated by the Chicago political establishment, and apparently the foundation of Walter Annenberg, who supported Ronald Reagan, gave Ayers millions of dollars to do a very leftward leaning “study of education” in Chicago. One reason Ayers is tolerated is that his family is very wealthy; there’s no question that the very respectable Annenberg foundation supported him.
FDR supported Joe Stalin in World War II. “War and politics make strange bedfellows,” the saying goes.
It is to Obama’s credit that he worked with some of these people on the south side of Chicago. It is not to his credit that he supports infanticide.
