This is an absolutely disgusting report on how child slavery is rampant in Haiti. You can buy a child for $150. The slave traders are telling impoverished parents they will give their children a better life and an education which is highly valued in Haiti since they don’t have public education and then they sell them to whoever has the cash to pay for them. They’ll even provide false papers so the kids can be taken out of the country.

Evidently, this practice of people living in the country giving their children to city dwellers for a better life goes back generations. A child from the country would be given to those in the city and they would feed them and send them to school. But today they are mistreated and are not educated. They are beaten by their owners if they don’t work hard enough and some are sold to whoever has the cash to pay.
This seems like the perfect opportunity for ministry, building schools in the countryside so parents won’t be tempted to give their children away.
