Prayer, Plain and Simple

“The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.” (Nahum 1:7)

“My people don’t recognize my care for them.” (Isaiah 1:3)

“…For they did not believe God
or trust him to care for them.” (Psalm 78:22)

God cares. He cares about you, your circumstances, your pain, your future. Have you ever had someone in your life that didn’t trust you (and that distrust was unfair)? It’s heartbreaking. When we don’t acknowledge God’s intimate care for us, we grieve his heart. (Psalm 78:40)

Trusting in God’s care is an act of our faith. We have to believe what our senses cannot always tell us. Our emotions might dictate thoughts of self-pity and loneliness and isolation. But when we allow those emotions to rule us, we are ignoring the absolute Truth that God is with us and He cares.

Reach out to the God who cares. He is reaching out to you today.

I abandon thoughts of self-pity, and I embrace the truth of your Word. You care for me. This care manifests in provision for every area of my life: relationships, finances, emotional well-being, family, health, and everything I need. I choose today to be grateful for your care, to take stock of all the ways you have provided for me in the past, and to receive in faith all the ways you want to care for me today. Forgive me for causing you pain with my complaining and unbelief. I choose to be joyful and to grow in my faith that you are a God who cares for me personally. Make me like You, constantly caring for people.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen
