I will hurry, without delay, to obey your commands. Psalm 119:60

We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work. John 9:4

Our society is constantly in a hurry. We want instant everything. Living a hurried life is not God’s plan. But it IS God’s plan when it comes to doing what most of us are very slow to do:  obeying what Jesus tells us to do. We are slow to forgive, slow to repent, slow to believe, slow to shut up, and slow to pray. But we are in a hurry to get what we want when we want it, even if we have to put up with stress and anxiety.

Let’s be in a hurry to do good today, to speak words of encouragement, to do what God has told us to do without delay. Delayed obedience is disobedience. God’s idea of hurrying to obey creates peace, not stress.

Father,

Please forgive me for pushing my agenda to the top of my priority list and relegating your instructions to the “maybe someday” list. I determine to be quick to obey your command to be quick to obey you! With Your help, I will follow. May this be the one and only time that I am in a hurry: when I’m heeding your Word.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
