“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, and the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.” (Psalm 37:5)

Children learn to talk. We too have been learning, talking with God in fits and starts ourselves. We half imagine that we are real adults, mature, stable and important in our own corners of the world. But truth be, we are children ourselves, and nothing shows this more than our quest to communicate with God. We are just beginning our eternal lives, so in that sense we are just infants, learning a skill of unimaginable honor and one we will practice forever. We are learning to pray.

Papa,

May Your name be kept Holy in my heart and in the world. May Your Kingdom come. Set up Your Kingdom, the realm of your ways and of your love, in my little kingdom, overtaking it and making it Yours. May Your will be done in my life just as swiftly and as truly as it is done in Heaven. Give me everything I need today – health, provision, grace, forgiveness, and above all, Your love, that I may receive it and give it away to others. Point out my sin and forgive me. Help me to change my ways to reflect Your goodness. I hereby choose to walk in forgiveness with everyone around me, ready to embrace my foes, making them friends to the best of my ability, because You have embraced me, even when I was Your enemy. Keep me far from paths that lead to my destruction.

Amen
