A Prayer for Mom

posted by Mark and Jill

Mom and me“Her children rise and call her blessed.” Proverbs 31:28

Mom,

Thank you for all you have given up for your family…. sleep, money, your own desires, your dreams… Much of your self was left on the shelf for years — the only thing dusty in your house, waiting for the freedom to be heard and experienced. Some of it never did come into being because of your self-sacrifice; it will all be waiting for you in Another World. So, I rise from my chair to show my respect, and I say what I haven’t said enough: You are a wonderful person, Mom. You have weathered your storms well and have come out better because of them. Many have benefited from the gift of who you are. And you will follow your own mandate when you leave this world. You will leave it better, tidier, wiser, healthier, and happier than you found it ninety years ago. May every seed of love that you have planted in my life return to you in multiplied ways.

I love you,
Me

Father of All Mothers,

Bless our moms today. Grant them strength, health, joy, grace, laughter, freedom from guilt, and hope for the future. Give them a hunger to know Your love, to love You more, and to follow You every day.

In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless. James 1:26 We can make a large horse go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth. And a small rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot choose

The Shortest Prayer Can Be the Most Powerful

Why Not Fear Not?
The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me? Yes, the Lord is for me; he will help me.  Psalm 118:6,7a NLT The Lord is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?   Psalm

Pray While Swiffering
I (Jill) like the Fly Lady. She has taught me to not worry about perfectionism. And I love my mom. She taught me how to clean a house thoroughly. But as much as I love her, her voice of perfectionism sometimes reverberates in my mind and brings conflict to my emotions – I want a clean house, but d
