Inauguration Day: A Prayer

posted by Mark and Jill

“God, today we ask for a blessing on United States President Barack Obama. As he begins his second term in office we pray that your hand would strengthen and protect him, that your voice would guide and comfort him, that your heart would consume him, that your will would lead him. You give our governments responsibility to carry out portions of your purpose. Behind every political agenda you are at work moving history to conform to your intent. Even when leaders stray from your course, you are able to make all things new, and to work all things together for good. With half our nation in support of President Obama’s policies and half our nation opposed, we call on you today to unite us around a spiritual vision far deeper than any political initiative or economic policy. Work in and through our president – whether he is fully aware or not – to accomplish your blessed best for our nation. Bless his home and his role as father and husband.  May Barack Obama come to know you as Father-God, May he find your heart first and foremost, and from that place of humility may he lead as a servant reflecting the vision and strength of Jesus.”
