Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano is erupting today. The floor of the Puu Oo crater collapsed on Saturday, falling dropping more than 350 feet. The fissure has caused lava to spew to a height of 80 feet. The eruption is the first of its kind in 14 years. The biggest danger to humans appears to be “VOG.”

Our family is currently living on the Big Island of Hawaii. Volcanic National Park is 90 miles south of us. The eruptions impact on residents at this point will be “VOG” or volcanic “SMOG” in the atmosphere. It’s particularly dangerous for people with respiratory challenges.

“God we pray for protection for the 90,000 residents of the Island of Hawaii. Specifically, we pray for the elderly, the very young, and those with health problems. We pray that the fumes from the volcanic eruption would flow out to sea and away from populated areas. Your creation is wonderful and sometimes powerful and even terrible. We trust you. In Jesus!”
