Prayer, Plain and Simple

See You at the Pole…

Christian students across the country are gathering at their schools this morning to pray before classes began. The annual “See You at the Pole” rally musters students to meet around their school’s flagpole to publicly seek God, pray, read scripture and worship. One and a half million students will participate today.

“God, we join with these young people today all across America who are seeking you and asking for your blessing in their schools, their families, their generation, and this nation. Without you and your blessing we can do nothing. But you promise that the generations that seek you will find you, and will find your blessing. We join with this generation of young people to seek your favor. As a people we have gone our own way. We have forgotten the foundations of faith. Today, we come to admit our need and to ask for your grace to forgive and your grace to find the destiny you intend for us. May this new generation lead the way in following your ways. May new leaders rise from among them, to chart a course of courage back to your heart. In Jesus’ name!”

Today our school in a little town called Varnado, prayed at our pole at least 100 kids were there. Our school is very small so that would be almost all the kids that attend. I said this morning before I even knew all this was going on that i wanted to start making a stand and to start going to the pole at least once a week ane whoever wants to join me they can. I almost feel like I really am supposed to do this because I got here and we prayed at the pole. I think I’m gonna try to do it maybe every Thursday. I have a burden for the youth and I want to show them how great our God really is….anyone out there reading this I would appreciate any prayers that might go out for me to be able to start this thank you and God Bless all ya’ll

I have to wonder what the reaction would be if Wiccan students held their circle around the flagpole one morning before school, or if Wiccan students showed up to stand beside their Christian counterparts and offer prayer from their faith tradition.

What exactly does the foundations of our faith have to do with standing around a pole flying the American flag? And Just how many souls for Christ were won by this show? Why are we patting ourselves on the back because we prayed in public? I’m thankful that I serve a risen Savior that could care less about the political stirrings of the nation or my allegiance to the flag. The foundation of my faith is Jesus Christ, who died for my sins and the sins of the world. He is coming back for His believers regardless of their political affiliation or nationality. Instead of praying out in the marketplace for all to see so that we can win one for the First Amendment, why don’t we try winning some souls for Jesus? Let’s become doers of the Word of God, and not just hearers.

No, jules, it’s so much more fun to make a public show.
