Confession: My Cross of Palms

Palm Cross.jpgThree days after Palm Sunday and I still can’t figure out how to make a decent cross from the fronds. I suspect this is evidence of an incomplete conversion. Last year a nice lady stood in the vestibule after mass and helped some of us make one. Well, she actually did the work.

I do believe this is a sign of the loss of a genuine Catholic culture–not to mention the problem of my impending humiliation when, probably by next year, my kid demands that I craft one.

This Wiki site seems good, as is this online instruction from King of Peace Church. Here is a nice and simple graphic representation.

But it still looks too complicated to recall from year to year. It seems like a question of orthopraxy as much as orthodoxy. How do you do it?

Very imperfectly, yet as our blessed Lord explained to Sr. Faustina in regards to the inability of the portrait to capture his radiance and beauty, it’s what it represents that matters most (or something like that 😉
